It's really difficult to sum up the effect of a character like Janet on one's life. I always thought she would have been a success at anything she chose to take on. She would have been an award-winning actor, an outstanding author, a hilarious stand up comedian. She was a wonderful chef, a brilliant scientist and a loyal (if occasionally acerbic) friend. She would have made a fabulous Empress of the Universe. I am really happy to have known her and experienced her energy, enthusiasm and intelligence. She will be sorely missed by her South African fan club. Hopefully they will meet her exacting standards in terms of fine food and wine in Valhalla, or Prof Scott will be giving them stick.
