I have been honored to have known Janet for nearly 30 years. As a young PhD candidate in Cape Town she was my role model, sparring partner and guide in the lab. I watched her graduate and start her stellar career. Janet was one of the most adventurous scientists I’ve know - both professionally and personally. Janet was also an extremely loyal and hospitable friend. My dear friend welcomed me with wide open arms, where ever she called home at that point: South Africa, Australia, UK.
